My name is Lydia Thorne- I’m an early career academic librarian and graduate of the University of Western Ontario’s Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) program.
Although I’m a new information professional, my journey towards librarianship actually began a couple of years ago, while completing my Master of Arts in English Language & Literature at Queen’s University. While working as a teaching assistant for a 2nd year undergraduate class, I found that I loved helping my students with their research- even more than I enjoyed teaching them the subject matter of the course! This discovery lead me to apply to the MLIS program at Western and well- the rest is history.
Liddylib is my tiny little shelf on the web to share some ongoing projects, my research, and really whatever strikes my fancy in library land. Some of my areas of interest include:
– open access models & scholarly communication
– information literacy
– online learning and instructional design
Follow me as I continue my pursuit of liddylib- Lydia the Librarian.
